Niassa Elephant Defenders 4 short film series online!

Poachers have decimated the elephant population in Mozambique’s Niassa National Reserve, but Niassa’s rangers are determined to save them from extinction. In Parts I & II of this four-part series, rangers tell their story of violence, conservation and courage to protect the elephants—from facing off with poachers armed with AK-47s and backed by well-resourced, sophisticated wildlife trafficking syndicates, to witnessing increasingly violent tactics of poachers that include targeting baby elephants to lure and kill the whole herd. This video series was created by Raul Gallego Abellan for the Global Wildlife Program (GWP). Watch Part III and IV to learn more about the dangers the rangers face, and what motivates them to keep going despite being under-equipped and overworked.
